5 weeks old......

The Rookie went back to the Dr. for his 5 week check up. Here's his stats:
Height:  22.25
Weight:  10 lb 15 oz.
Head 39.25 cm

Big City Adventure

Brandt won a free night's stay downtown from work. So, Friday night they packed up and headed downtown.  Mason's Grammy & Papaw babysit while Brandt and Sarah had thier first night out-- It was also the first time Sarah had ever left Mason. It was a fun time out, but Mom and Dad were both ready to get back to see thier Mason after 3 short hours of freedom.

At four weeks old, Mason was really starting to smile. We made the trip to Rockville so Papaw could see Mason on his Birthday.  Here they are, Papaw and his boy.

Great-Grandparent World Tour

Mason's first trips out of the house and out of town were to visit his Great-Grandparents.  He had already met his Great Granny Blanche, but it took two weekends and many miles to track the others down. Mason enjoyed his visits--sleeping all the way there and back during the long car rides.

One Week Dr. Appt

Mason's first trip out of the house was to his pediatrician for his first week check-up.  Mason did not like getting stripped down to his diaper to be checked. He cried. Daddy didn't like the trip to the doctor's office either. After we saw a child wearing a mask and the pedetrician telling us that the office was full of sick kids with RSV, we wondered why we were there in the first place. However, Mason did so well, we don't have to go back until his 1 month visit.

Here's the rookie's stats:
Weight: 7 lb. 15 oz
Height: 21 inches (apparently the hospital measurement was off or Mason shrunk)
Head:  36.25 cm

Meeting the Family & Friends

Thanks to everyone who came to visit Mason, sent flowers, sent a card, made a phone call, or sent a gift. We are one lucky family and so blessed to have so many caring friends and family members.  Here are a few pictures of Mason with his friends and family. Meet Mason

Mason Andrew Downing made his debut Thursday, February 10, 2011 at 11:08 am.  He weighed in at 7 lb 11 oz and measured 21.25 inches long.  Papaw & Mamaw Allen, Papaw and Grammy Downing, and Uncle Anthony were at the hospital to welcome Mason into the world.


Mason is perfect. He's happy & healthy and doing great. Mom and dad couldn't be happier. :)
